1. How do I order books?

A member account is required before a purchase can be made. For more details please refer to the Information --> Ordering section from the menu at the top of the page. The process of creating an account is an easy process.

2. How do I find out about the status of my order?

Unless otherwise advised, an order will be pending until it is shipped to you. In this case, an email will be sent to you confirming this. If an order is cancelled or refunded for any reason then you will be notified by email.

3. Are my personal and credit card details safe when I purchase on-line?

Be assured that Books A Mystery keeps all personal information submitted to it in the strictest confidence. The information is stored on a secure server and is only used to process orders from the website. This information will not be released to anyone other than those necessary to fulfill your order. All personal information remains private and secure and will not be loaned out, sold or shared with other parties.

However, should a situation arise where we are required by law or legal process to provide information about a customer we are obligated to comply with that request. For more details on our Privacy Policy go to Information --> Privacy Policy from the menu at the top of the screen.

Books A Mystery does not store any credit card details on the website database or on the server. All credit card payments go through a secure Commonwealth Bank of Australia payment gateway or PayPal. Please refer to Information --> Payments -->Credit Cards or for Paypal information go to http://www.paypal.com.au.

4. How do I search for a particular book or author?

There are 3 ways of searching for a specific book or author:

• If you know the name of the book or the author, type it in the Quick Search box at the top of each page and click Search.
  
• Detailed Search at the top of each page. This will open a page with a number of option boxes. Type any details that you know in the fields provided such as Author, Book name, Book category, ISBN, Format, Release date, and click Search
  
• Select either Authors or Books from the top menu and navigate from there

You can also browse by category by clicking the relevant category you are interested in. This will allow you to see the books by title that we currently stock.

5. What do I do when I can’t find a particular book or author on your website?

Books A Mystery takes pride in serving its customers so we will try our hardest to satisfy your requests. If a book title or author is not listed on our website please contact us through the contacts page giving as much detail as possible and we will reply within 24 hours with advice on how we can help out.

6. How do I get more details about a particular author?

Our website does not specifically store author details or interesting facts and figures about them outside of their name and their website if available.

To access an author’s website bring up the book title you may be interested in then click on the book’s description and this will take you into the detailed description page. From here you click on the Author and a new window opens up with their website details if we have that detail stored. If they do not have a website then it will be blank. In such circumstances, a straight Google search should satisfy most of your requirements.

7. What do I do if I want a book outside of the Mystery genre?

Books A Mystery is a specialist book seller hence our concentration in the mystery genre. For our customers, we are also happy to help with other requests made. If for whatever reason we can't help, we will do our best to offer an alternative.

8. How do I navigate the website?

If you would like to generally browse for books then click any button on the menu to the left, such as New Listings, Mystery Recommendations, Mystery Reviews or any of the Mystery Categories.

Another way is to click on the Detailed Search option at the top of each page and fill in the option boxes (at least one is required) and click Search.

Alternatively, you may like to access various areas through the menu options at the top. There is also a Site Map option on the bottom menu. Selecting this will bring up a summary of each menu and the options available under each menu item.

9. How many and which books do you have in stock?

There are many books listed on the website most of which, but not all, will be in stock with us at any one point in time. Book orders are placed with our supplier in the U.S. every Tuesday and Friday and the supplier delivers to Australia twice a week, which means our stock is rapidly replenished.

Depending on the availability of books they are usually delivered to us within 2 to 3 weeks of you placing the order if we not have that item in stock at the time of the order being placed.

If a book is out of stock with our suppliers, then it will be back ordered and will be shipped when the stock becomes available.

If a book has yet to be released by the publisher, but we have it listed on the website then it will be pre-ordered. The book will be dispatched to Books A Mystery the day after its release in the U.S.

We are constantly updating our website with new and upcoming releases and also with back-listed books. 10. How do I get more details from the selections I have made?

Depending on the selections that you have made, a list of books will be displayed and the total number of books will also be displayed for that selection. This means that these books are listed but stock availability won’t be known until an order is put through by us.

To find out more details there are a number of options available to you:

• To find out more details about the book click on the title or on the brief description. This will bring you to new page with a detailed description of the book, the option to buy the book and the option to write an on-line review about the book if you so desire. Go to Information --> Mystery Reviews for more details.
•   To find more books by that author click on the author’s name which will then display all the books by them that are listed on the website’s database.
• To find more books released in the same month and year as that which is displayed by a particular book then click on the Release date and a list of books with the same release date will be displayed.
•   To find more books in the same category then click on the category option within the book summary box and all books within that category listed on the website will be displayed.
•   Alternatively you input a combination of any of these options and this will which narrow down your selection further.

11. What is a wish list?

As you navigate around the site you may find books that you wish to buy, or you may wish to write a review, or would like to know more about. Adding them to a wish list is an ideal way to refer back to them. This is not an obligation to buy.

You may access your wish list by clicking on Wish List at the top of the website page. This will display all books chosen and from here you may add to cart with a view to purchasing, you may write a review or you can remove them from the list. The wish list is saved on exit.

12. What are my payment options?

There are a number of payment options available.

In brief they are Credit Card, PayPal, Cheque (needs to first clear), Direct Deposit and Money Order. Please refer to Information --> Payments from the menu at the top of the page for more details. 

13. What is your privacy policy?

14. What is your returns policy?

Books may be returned but they have to be in a re-saleable condition. Please refer to Information --> Returns from the menu at the top of the page for more details.

15. Do you ship internationally and what are your shipping costs?

Books A Mystery posts all over Australia and overseas and tries to keep postage costs as low as possible. We only charge our customers what we are charged by Australia Post. There is no handling fee. 16. What are Mystery Rewards and how do I apply?

Mystery Rewards is our loyalty program and you are automatically enrolled on your first purchase of $30 or more. All records are kept by Books A Mystery. Please refer to Information --> Mystery Rewards from the menu at the top of the page for more details. 

17. What are Mystery Reviews?

Mystery Reviews is a way for customers to post a review on books that they have bought or read. You must have a member account to write a review. Go to Information --> Mystery Reviews for more details.

19. Am I able to cancel an order and how do I do it?

There are a number of ways cancelling an order can be done:

•  If you have not paid, we will cancel the order through our system and you will receive an email confirming the cancellation.
•  If you have paid we will wait once the funds have been cleared and will transfer the full amount back to you by direct deposit (bank account details will be required) or credit card (depending on the original payment method). Again an email confirming cancellation will be sent to you and then another email confirming the refund.
• If books have been shipped then you will need to satisfy the conditions of the returns policy to receive a refund. Please go to Information --> Returns for more details on this.
